Windows and Web Based Administration and Faxing Utilities

Open Text Fax Appliance, Desktop Edition; Open Text Fax Appliance, Premier Edition; and Open Text Fax Appliance, Redundant Edition all now offer customers the following:

• Faxmain - a Windows-based server configuration, administration, and faxing utility available through the FaxPress Plus client software
• The Secure Web Interface - a Web-based server configuration, administration, and faxing utility available from any computer with a Web browser

Fax Reporting

Fax Appliance logs a wide variety of information about the fax transactions it handles. Now, the FaxPress Plus Fax Report, a convenient, user-friendly presentation tool, generates the fax transaction log information in a variety of report formats-including both system-wide and personal fax report types. As well, the Fax Report's comprehensive analysis of the fax processing transactions is easily exported to spreadsheets, databases, and other report generators.

Microsoft Active Directory Synchronizer

The FaxPress Plus Microsoft Active Directory Synchronizer allows administrators the efficiency of creating new users from existing Active Directory users, and the convenience of centralized Active Directory and FaxPress Plus user management. The Active Directory Synchronizer interface is intuitive and straightforward.

Drop Directory: Production Faxing Made Easy

FaxPress Plus supports easy deployment of automated, production faxing in almost any environment through a convenient Drop Directory feature. Third-party applications can access the Drop Directory to send outgoing faxes and retrieve incoming faxes. The Drop Directory supports fax jobs submitted in any native document format and also supports priority fax job settings controlled by the third party application. Drop directories can be defined in any sharable folders on the network accessible to Fax Appliance.

FaxPress Plus also supports the development of custom production fax applications, using JAVA, VB, or C++ programming languages.

System Backup and Restore

Open Text FaxPress Plus now comes with an advanced backup and restore function designed to protect user files and data in case of any unexpected system failure. The FaxPress Plus backup function also allows system files, user information, and fax job data to be backed up to a sharable network folder.

Error Correction Mode

Phone line noise during fax transmission can sometimes cause errors in the received image, usually causing one or more scan lines to be dropped from the image. As long as there are not too many errors, the page is accepted and confirmed because it is still readable. If too many errors occur, however, the fax will be rejected.

The default Error Correction Mode (ECM) now guarantees faxes will be sent and received with no errors, as long as the sending or receiving machine also supports ECM.

Backward Compatibility

Fax Appliance servers can work together on the same network. The FaxPress Plus client software can be used to access both server platforms. Advanced FaxPress Plus client features designed specifically for Desktop Appliance, Premier Appliance, and Redundant Appliance are now automatically enabled for use with Desktop Appliance, Premier Appliance, and Redundant Appliance, and then automatically disabled for use with 2500 Appliance.

Load Sharing with FaxPress Plus Servers

Load sharing between Desktop Appliance, Premier Appliance, and Redundant Appliance now provides a way for even distribution of outbound and inbound fax loads and efficient high volume fax transmission. The servers can also be configured to load share outbound faxes with any existing FaxPress-based server on the network.

Microsoft Word based cover pages

FaxPress Plus fax cover pages can now be created in Microsoft Word or WordPad, allowing all of Word's familiar formatting and editing power to be used in customizing cover pages.

International Character Support

With fax cover pages created in Microsoft Word and WordPad, the use of international characters on your fax cover pages is now supported in addition to English.
